SANDHILLS SCORE SEMINARS:

Our seminars are designed to provide the small business person the necessary knowledge for the effective operation of their business.

Each seminar employs experienced business professionals who "know their way around the territory". A copy of the presentation is always available for you to take home and many seminars have supplemental material for you. We also make available free one-on-one follow-up counseling to each attendee to help you implement what you have learned.

Our seminars are co-sponsored by the Small Business Center, Sandhills Community College (3395 Airport Road, Pinehurst, N.C.) and are conducted at the college campus in Van Dusen Hall.

Sandhills SCORE has prepared a series of seminars known as our BUSINESS BASICS package. The seminars can be attended individually or you may wish to take advantage of the complete 5 - seminar set. Seminar schedule, a brief description of each seminar, and a description of BUSINESS BASICS is presented below.

BUSINESS BASICS

Five seminars are grouped as a "MUST DO" for anyone either in business or planning to start. Each person who completes all five seminars receives a $75 grant from SCORE - these funds to be applied to the first advertising for the business.

By the end of this seminar you will have sufficient working knowledge of basic accounting skills that you can apply to your small business right away. You will be reasonably knowledgable of a Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Cash Flow Statement such that you can communicate and interact with your Accountant for the purpose of managing your business more effectively.

This is the practical world of what to do and how to do it. You will understand the many forms of capital that are available and how to apply. A local bank loan officer will tell you exactly what he expects from you to be successful in your loan application. A representative from the Fayetteville Women's Business Center will discuss the SBA Community Express loan program (which includes several unsecured loan options).
